Proving Its Commitment to Environmental Management, Semen Gresik Wins the 2022 Green Proper Award from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry Again
Rembang, January 3, 2023 – For the second time, PT Semen Gresik (PTSG) has accomplished another brilliant achievement by receiving the 2022 Green Proper award from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) which was announced at the awards session at the Vice President Palace of the Republic of Indonesia, Thursday (12/ 29).
The 2022 Green Proper award agenda was carried out in a hybrid manner and was attended by 3,200 participants. It was attended in person by the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Ma'ruf Amin and the Minister of Environment and Forestry Siti Nurbaya.
PTSG’s General Manager of Communication & Legal Department Fardhi Sjahrul Ade mentioned that PTSG's achievement in receiving the 2022 Green Proper award is a proof that the company has excellently carried out the environmental management and even exceeded what was required by the regulations and the laws (Beyond Compliance criteria).
"Praise be to God, we are grateful for this outstanding achievement. We are thankful to all related parties who have supported and guided us that PTSG could receive the 2022 Green Proper award," expressed Ade in his press statement (1/3).
He continued that Green Proper is the highest award given by the government to industries that display the best performance in the environmental and community development category around the company's operational area.
"PTSG keeps its commitment to carrying out three aspects, i.e., environmental management, efficient use of resources, and sustainable social responsibility," he explained.
Ade added that, hopefully, PTSG remains consistent in environmental management and creates a positive impact on the surrounding community through the community development programs.
Meanwhile, Vice President Ma'ruf Amin revealed that the PROPER award was intended to encourage every industrial business activity not only to comply with environmental regulations, but also to carry out sustainable business practices by implementing a green economy.
"I congratulate the companies receiving the PROPER Awards. The performance of each company has proven to be commendable in terms of environmental management. The winners have become inspirations and motivation for other companies to do the same to bring glory to Indonesia as a nation well respected by the world and is successful in managing a sustainable environment," said Amin.
